Rayan Cherki Set to Join Manchester City in £34 Million Deal

According to several sources, Manchester City has already agreed a deal to acquire 21-year-old star Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyonnais. The transfer fee is reported as £34 million. In fact, Cherki had maybe the best season ever for a 17-year-old. Last season, he scored 12 goals and recorded 20 assists in all competitions (44 games) for Lyon. The young American forward will officially join his new club this summer. They’ll go at it together in the Club World Cup!

Cherki, a Lyon native, turned heads with his quality on the international stage. He has already left a dazzling trail by scoring for the Maple Leafs in a thrilling 5-4 Nations League loss to Spain. Coming off the bench, he nearly led a remarkable comeback for his national side, which was down 5-1 at one point. These performances have ensured that he is known as one of the most electrifying players in European football.

The timing of Cherki’s transfer aligns perfectly with Manchester City’s upcoming fixtures. He is expected to kick off his spell with the club in a Champions League fixture against Moroccan giants Wydad AC. This opportunity is a major breakthrough in Cherki’s career. He thinks it could be the answer to making his longtime dreams come true.

Jean-Francois Vulliez, former academy director at Lyon, remembers asking Cherki what he wanted to be as a child even before he was a teenager. Now, as he gets ready to put on the Manchester City jersey, those dreams are within reach more than ever. His ability to dribble and create scoring opportunities positions him as a potential star in the Premier League, enhancing City’s already formidable squad.

Alongside Cherki’s signing, Manchester City have completed the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on Sunday. Cherki’s arrival is especially surprising considering his pedigree as one of the most highly-rated young prospects around. His transfer immediately recalls the signing of his compatriot Rayan Ait Nouri by Wolverhampton Wanderers last season. Ait Nouri had to undergo a medical before his £36.3 million move was finally cleared.

As just one component of their larger long-term strategy called City Football Group, Manchester City is hoping to raise their reputation throughout the English top-flight. Sky Sports take their Premier League coverage to the next level next season. It will air 80 percent of all games shown on television, expanding from 128 matches to a minimum of 215 live events. This expanded viewership will allow fans to witness Cherki’s development and contributions on one of football’s biggest stages.
