The Baltimore Ravens are grappling with a growing list of injuries as they prepare to host the Houston Texans on Sunday. Quarterback Lamar Jackson (ankle) and safety Kyle Hamilton (hamstring) did not practice Thursday. This has deepened fears that they won’t be prepared when the new game drops.
Lamar Jackson, the Ravens’ highest-paid player by average salary, is out with a hamstring injury. His missing presence would be felt greatly, especially in how it impacts the Dolphins’ offense as a whole. If Jackson can’t go, Cooper Rush would likely start in his place. It’s a tense, ongoing situation, and fans everywhere continue to hold their breath and hope for more good news about his eventual recovery.
Kyle Hamilton, another of the team’s top earners, is dealing with a groin injury and missed practice on Thursday as well. Hamilton has been on the field every game since the 2023 season, never missing a snap within that span. The absence of both Jackson and Hamilton would represent a hefty double-whammy to the Ravens’ foundation.
In addition to Jackson and Hamilton, a few other integral players are injured. Due to his ongoing ankle injury, Ronnie Stanley was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Tyler Linderbaum is with a calf and subject to the same restrictions. All-Pro, fast veteran linebacker Roquan Smith is out with a hamstring injury. The team’s best defensive back, cornerback Marlon Humphrey, is out with a calf injury. Add in Patrick Ricard, who’s in a similar situation with a calf injury, and it’s just making the Ravens’ game planning even tougher.
Defensive end Nnamdi Madubuike has been placed on injured reserve with a neck injury, ending his season. This recent setback only adds to the growing list of challenges facing the team. The Ravens have nine Pro Bowl players from last year currently facing injuries, challenging their depth as they head into the game against the Texans.
Even through all that adversity, tight end Mark Andrews had a hopeful view of the situation to lift everyone’s spirits.
“Everybody here in this organization, we’re all fighters. We’ve been through adversity. We know what that looks like, and there’s no quit in this group, and we’re excited to show the world that.” – Mark Andrews
The Ravens don’t have an easy task this week as the Texans will provide a stern test. Their ability to adapt and overcome will be put to the test! With a critical game ahead, the coaching staff is focused on making the necessary adjustments while monitoring the health of their players.
