Both players have recently made their positions clear: Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s attempts to secure Diaz, while Williams signed a new deal with Athletic Club. Therefore, Rashford would be the ideal choice for the Catalan club.
Financial Fair Play restrictions at Barcelona add to the challenge, as they have to factor in Rashford’s current salary at Manchester United. The English forward has been a breakout star this season and is one of the league’s most dynamic attackers. His salary will be key in crafting any deal. Manchester United would prefer a sale at this stage rather than a second loan. This position may make things difficult in negotiations if Barcelona hope to negotiate a deal.
Rashford has played his part by admitting he is looking for a “new challenge”, cranking up the pressure on United to let him leave Old Trafford. He decided to come back to Carrington anyway, after twice being offered more time off than he took. Matheus Cunha has now officially inherited the No 10 shirt once worn by Rashford. If true, this move would be a very strong signal that the club is planning for a future without him.
