Our partners at Rangers Football Club are excited to take the pitch this Saturday! First up, they’ll face Dundee at Dens Park and supporters will be able to watch the match live on Sky Sports. The Glasgow giants are keen to continue their great form. They pulled off an impressive 3-2 win against Celtic just before the international break. This match begins a beautiful new chapter for the club. Barry Ferguson comes in as player manager, steering the club through the controversy and towards the end of the season.
To build his coaching staff, Ferguson has brought in the expertise of Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, and Allan McGregor. Since Philippe Clement’s dismissal in February, Rangers have turned their fortunes around. They have lost just three of their last four Premiership matches. Their recent upswing included them getting the better of Turkish side Fenerbahce to move into the group stages of the Europa League. This is not to downplay the successes that Rangers have earned. With Celtic 13 points ahead in the Premiership table, the title race is all-but over again.
Rangers now face the tougher test of trying to beat Athletic Bilbao in next month’s Europa League quarter-final tie. For now their main priority is to secure a win against Dundee on home soil. Dundee managed this last time in 2017 with Neil McCann’s management at the helm, with the same McCann bringing his tactical prowess to the Gers now as a member of Ferguson’s coaching staff.
“I think there’s a change in adapting our tactics, which Philippe and his coaching team had a certain way of playing and it was very structured in terms of the formation never really changed that much, the personnel would change within it, but I think Fergie has shown that he’s adaptable to a different opposition.” – Neil McCann
Our coaching staff stresses innovation and teamwork to drive the Rangers to victory. McCann notes that perhaps more than anything, being flexible with both strategy and execution is key.
“But we come together as a coaching team, make the decision on how we’re going to go and we set the boys out like that, but with the knowledge that we’re not all the same type of people and we don’t all share the same opinion at times.” – Neil McCann
“That’s where adaptability can come in and hopefully that’s reflective in how the games have gone for us.” – Neil McCann
Incoming as a coach is veteran Allan McGregor, and McGregor’s winning mentality and goalkeeping expertise should only elevate the team further. Known for his competitive spirit, McGregor’s influence is anticipated to be instrumental in developing Rangers’ goalkeepers.
The upcoming match against Dundee will kick off at 5:30 pm, serving as an opportunity for Rangers to showcase their newfound strategies under Ferguson’s leadership. The ambitious team behind it is hell-bent on continuing the winning streak. They want to deepen their grip on land and European dominance even more.
