In their Week 14 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals, the Los Angeles Rams made history. They went on to earn an impressive 45-17 win! This victory certainly was one for the history books for the Rams! It was even the first time in franchise history that they’d done three passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and zero turnovers in one game! Their remarkable fielding was matched by an equally fearsome offensive attack. In doing so, they rocketed themselves back to the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a record of 10-3.
The Rams proved their offensive firepower by scoring 45 points on the Steelers. That was their biggest outburst since Week 16 of the 2022 season, when the Cowboys scored 51 points on the Denver Broncos. That impressive victory over the Cardinals established them as one of the best teams in the league. It greatly increased their confidence as they prepare to face new challenges in the future.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay fought health concerns prior to the game. As a consequence, he didn’t fly out to Arizona until early Sunday morning. As such, he decided not to hold the traditional team party on Saturday night. Even in his absence, the Rams showed heart and togetherness out on the field.
Rams defensive back Blake Corum, a member of the Illustrated 400, later credited his team’s adaptability. “When Coach McVay wasn’t able to be there, the culture remains the same, the team remains the same, and we don’t budge,” he said. He added that getting the most out of the team is down to all the coaching staff’s hard work. When we encounter an insurmountable obstacle, we don’t give up. It had nothing to do with the crowd, that’s a great environment to play in,” Corum said.
McVay gave his team credit for handling business, even while he was feeling under the weather. I gotta tell you, I thought Mike LaFleur did a hell of job. All the guys played a part in our offensive performance today, and scoring 41 points like we did definitely requires a team effort, he said. As McVay said, “Today is game day.” In response, he said the most inspiring thing he saw was how his team rallied together in his absence.
The Rams are set to face two challenging opponents in the coming weeks: the 8-5 Detroit Lions and the 10-3 Seattle Seahawks. Those next few games will be key in trying to hold onto their slender lead at the top of the NFC standings.
