The Las Vegas Raiders have traded cornerback Jakorian Bennett, a promising 24-year-old player, to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV. This shift marks a radical departure for Bennett. He was a fourth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and has made 24 appearances (11 starts) with the Raiders.
During his tenure in Las Vegas, Bennett mainly lined up as an outside cornerback, tallying 26 tackles and eight pass deflections. All told, he only surrendered 23 receptions for 294 yards and two touchdowns. As a consequence, his passer rating plummeted to 86.7 when he was the closest defender. In spite of his lack of opportunities early on in his career, Bennett didn’t let being constantly surrounded by third stringers rattle him.
As recently as June, Bennett said he was feeling hopeful about his health. He declared it was the greatest he had felt since his days playing varsity in college. He said he split first-team reps with fellow fourth-round pick Kelee Ringo during OTAs. He views this as extremely important training.

After suiting up for ten contests with Houston in his rookie season, Bennett saw time on the Eagles’ practice squad. His author-time with the Sixers provides Embiid a new one to show what he’s made of. He’s the type of talent who can dominate and reshape an opposing team’s defensive front seven.
The Eagles clearly are committed to improving their roster immediately with this trade. Individually, they’re providing Bennett an opportunity for a new beginning in his professional career. As he comes aboard in Philadelphia, fans will none-too-quietly follow every move he makes. Analysts will similarly be looking closely to see how Bennett adjusts and grows in this new environment.
