Both appointments have been influenced by the presence of new minority owner Tom Brady, whose involvement has rejuvenated the organization's vision.
Pete Carroll, a seasoned veteran with over 40 years in the NFL, brings his extensive coaching pedigree to the Raiders at the age of 73. Known for his successful tenure with the Seattle Seahawks, where he amassed a winning record of 137-89-1 over 14 seasons, Carroll also boasts two national championships from his time at USC and a Super Bowl victory. After taking a hiatus in 2024 to serve in an advisory capacity for Seattle, Carroll returns to the NFL landscape, invigorated and ready to instill his robust coaching philosophy.
Spytek, at 44, enters his new role as general manager with a wealth of experience garnered since 2004. His career spans various capacities, including stints as an operations intern with the Detroit Lions and player personnel intern with the Philadelphia Eagles. Spytek's decision to join the Raiders was significantly swayed by Tom Brady's influence within the organization, a sentiment echoed by Carroll. Spytek expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Carroll, emphasizing their shared vision for building a team defined by character and values.

Raiders owner Mark Davis has been instrumental in orchestrating this new leadership. He remains committed to ensuring the team's success by continuing his active involvement in decision-making processes. Davis's history with the franchise is deeply rooted in tradition and excellence, drawing inspiration from legendary figures like John Madden and Ron Wolf.
"And again, that's been the process and the mindset all along. Like I said, it got offset, or kind of blown up, when Jon Gruden was sent away. And so, we've been trying to get it right since then, and we'll see. But I've got patience to get it right, and I think we've got the people now. Again, I've always felt that, and results are what speak to me." – Davis
Davis's humor shines through as he recounts a conversation with his mother about Carroll's appointment.
"It's funny, when my mom found out Carroll was going to be the head coach — my mom is Carol Davis; she just turned 93 — she thought we were talking about her, but I told her, 'No, we're doing Pete Carroll because we're looking for youth,'" – Davis
Spytek and Carroll are poised to redefine the Raiders' identity. They plan to focus on the kind of players they wish to attract and cultivate a culture based on integrity and character.
"We're going to talk more about the kind of player we want, what it looks like at every position, the kind of person we want to meet… both of us will continue to talk about that." – Spytek
