The Sultans batted first, powered by an impressive innings from wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan. His fairytale run continued as he scored an unbeaten 76 runs off 48 balls, anchoring his team’s innings and laying the foundations for a successful chase. Rizwan batted up the order and was the vital cog in the Sultans’ machine. Thanks to his efforts, they set a challenging total of 185 runs, their wicket tally only reaching three in their allotted 20 overs. Supporting him, Kamran Ghulam made a telling impact with a brisk-fire 52 not out off only 31 balls. With Kamran Akmal, they put on an unbeaten fourth-wicket stand of 115 runs, taking the Sultans to a formidable score.
In reply, the Qalandars were rocked early on, slipping to 4 for 95. Then Daryl Mitchell and Sikandar Raza built a partnership to turn the tide. Mitchell, who initially found himself at 19 runs from 17 balls, accelerated his innings to finish with 64 runs off 38 balls. His collaboration with Raza was his strongest, as the two added a remarkable 89 runs off only 41 deliveries.
The Qalandars, despite some early worrisome wickets, slowly and steadily chased down the target. Raza proved he can thrive under pressure and steered the team home finishing the match unbeaten on 40 runs off just 21 balls. He went on to hit the winning run, giving his team the victory with six balls remaining. That changed with a successful chase in which the Qalandars moved to second in the PSL standings, just behind Islamabad United.
