Graham Potter is under huge pressure in the dugout of West Ham United. The club’s owners are desperate for him to produce one after a winless start to the campaign. Despite taking training as usual on Monday, his future remains uncertain as the board weighs the option of replacing him amidst disappointing performances.
West Ham has shown obvious signs of struggle this season. Potter has picked up a mere six wins in his 23 Premier League fixtures since taking over the reins. The team’s results have plummeted, as they’ve only managed three wins in their last 16 games. That grim record has pulled the win percentage below that of compatriot coach Julen Lopetegui’s at fellow relegation battlers Sevilla. It now stands just a handful of defeats above Avram Grant’s all time low for a West Ham manager in the Premier League.
The current season is a continuation of the challenges Potter encountered last season. His management led West Ham to a lackluster 14th-place finish in the Premier League, and he struggled to deliver consistent performances during the latter half of the season. The team’s overall challenge was made even more difficult by an eight game home winless run at their adopted home, the London Stadium. This internal strife only added to the woes of their fans.
