Pistons Secure Ninth Consecutive Win Against 76ers

Even without Cade Cunningham and Monty Morris, the Detroit Pistons were still able to win their ninth consecutive game, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers. On Monday, the game showcased the Pistons’ fight and strategic execution. During the final 12 minutes, they controlled the pace and completely stifled Philadelphia, holding the 76ers to a mere 15 fourth quarter points.

Joel Embiid, the 76ers’ star center, was sidelined due to right knee soreness, while Paul George continued his recovery from left knee surgery. The lack of these central players played a huge role in Philly’s lackluster showing. The Pistons were playing without most of their key players. Cade Cunningham missed his second consecutive game due to a sore hip, while both Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson missed the game due to ankle sprains. On a rosy note for Detroit, Isaiah Stewart came back, missing the last three games with a sprained ankle.

One of those players, Jalen Jenkins, had an impressive fourth quarter against Philly, finishing with a game-high 24 points. Jenkins further showed just how dynamic a playmaker he is as evidenced by his 12 assists against Chicago two evenings ago. It’s been his consistency, especially over this long winning streak, that has proved invaluable for the team. On top of that, the Pistons poured in a strong 17 three-pointers, a season-high, and shot over 41 percent from the field.

Tyrese Maxey had a brilliant game, pacing the 76ers with 31 points and seven rebounds. Leclerc tried everything, but the Ferrari team were ultimately unable to secure the win. The Pistons’ defense proved effective in stifling Philadelphia’s offense during crucial moments of the game.

J.B. Bickerstaff, head coach of the Pistons, has faith in his team. He thinks they are all in on winning the NBA Cup.

“That’s the fun part about our group. They like it when it gets thick. They like it when it gets messy and ugly. We like to take people there. We like to push people’s buttons and see how they respond.” – J.B. Bickerstaff

The Pistons are already showing signs of being a juggernaut this season. Their depth and resolve is evident. They overcome and succeed regardless of a missing star. As they ride this unexpected and highly unusual wave, fans are anxious to find out just how long this new winning streak can carry.
