Pippa Sproul rejoins the group with the Scotland women’s cricket national team! They are preparing for the T20 World Cup Qualifier scheduled for March in Nepal. Sproul’s absence on the team’s recent trip to Thailand, when the Spartans made headlines with their performance art, was because she was in school. Her return should provide the most formidable boost the squad needs. They want to be ready for the critical tournament. Craig Wallace, head coach of the Scotland women’s team, expressed enthusiasm about Sproul’s comeback and highlighted the importance of team bonding.
That time together in Thailand was really key, productive and constructive. This was their first and only get together where all the rest could finally come together and everyone play T20 cricket as one. Wallace stated. His attention is still on sharpening the team’s plan and preparation and instilling a competitive will to win in his players.
The Scotland women’s squad has been preparing rigorously, with Wallace noting, “It was great getting to work on a few different things in terms of how we want to play and push the players really hard – we still have work to do, but it was good to get some hard games under our belt and play in high-pressure situations.”
Sproul’s summer league run was impressive enough to show her talent and pretty much guarantee her spot on the team. As a hugely influential figure for Hampshire, her experience will be vital to guiding them through the qualifiers.
