Philadelphia Eagles’ Landon Dickerson Injures Right Leg During Practice

Landon Dickerson, the Pro Bowl left guard for the Philadelphia Eagles, dealt with a serious right leg injury. It was a welcome development, especially since this grew out of the team’s open practice Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field. The 26-year-old player, who has made the Pro Bowl every year since 2022, was a pivotal part of one of the best offensive lines in football and is known for his significant contributions to the team’s success.

The injury happened near the end of the nearly-three-hour practice when Dickerson fell to the turf on a passing play. And quarterback Jalen Hurts threw an absolute howitzer. Running back Saquon Barkley plucked it out of the air as he sat in the flat on the far side of the field. Witnesses described a terrifying scene as Dickerson did not receive any first aid while lying on the ground for several minutes. His teammates immediately surrounded him, as the stunned crowd of nearly 50,000 watched in silence.

After the hit, team medical staff helped Dickerson off the field, after which he was placed on a cart and wheeled indoors. As of Sunday, that’s he’s not appearing on the injury report. That was a long shot, as he showed up on Saturday’s injury report with a knee injury and was limited in practice.

Dickerson’s absence is a major worry for the Eagles as, until this point, he’s been a key cog in what the Eagles have done offensively. He is one of only five guards who have achieved Pro Bowl status consecutively since 2022, joining the ranks of notable players such as Joel Bitonio, Chris Lindstrom, Quenton Nelson, and Joe Thuney. His remarkable performance last season opened up things for Saquon Barkley to thrive. In 2024, Barkley rushed for an eye-popping 2,504 yards—playoffs included—shattering records in the process.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted Sunday night that the 6-foot-3, 330-pound Dickerson is scheduled for an MRI on his right knee on Monday. The outcome of this pregnancy will be critical both in his timeline for recovery and returning for the remaining games of the season.
