Phallon Tullis-Joyce Signs Three-Year Deal with Manchester United Women

Phallon Tullis-Joyce, the Manchester United Women breakout star, has signed a new three-year deal at the club. In addition, that talented goalkeeper recently collected her first cap for the USA national team. As the new No. 1 keeper for the team since Mary Earps’ summer exit, she has made a big difference. Her exceptional performances both on and off the pitch have solidified her position as a key player for Manchester United.

Coming off a season of learning and growth, Tullis-Joyce couldn’t hide the thrill of starting her new adventure with Manchester United. She is set to play against Chelsea on Wednesday, April 30, as the team aims to secure a spot in the Women’s Champions League for the next season.

A Promising Career

2020 NWSL draft pick Phallon Tullis-Joyce of Lyon started her path as a keeper at age 12. Since that time, she’s developed her abilities and established herself as one of the game’s most elite players. Along with her spirit, this season she’s wowed audiences and defenders alike with her skill on the field. Manchester United’s interim head of women’s football, Matt Johnson hailed her as world-class.

As Tullis-Joyce considered her journey this season, she was both realistic about the difficulties and optimistic in the direction it has her moving.

“This whole season is summed up by a massive amount of learning. I do love learning in general so I am definitely enjoying it,” – Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Her commitment to improving individual players and the entire group has played a central role in getting the club back on track.

Rising to the Challenge

When Tullis-Joyce went to Manchester United, she knew the type of dog-eat-dog world she was entering. She knew that with only one ‘keeper not getting to play, it would be a challenge, but threw herself into the competition with both feet.

“Coming into Manchester United, I was fully aware what the situation was. I was definitely up to the challenge,” – Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

She is excited about the opportunity to be able to learn from seasoned players. If anyone person has had a deeper impact on her career, it’s been Mary Earps. Tullis-Joyce had hoped for a chance to play for Manchester United throughout the season and felt fortunate to be called upon during Conti Cup games.

Looking Ahead

As Manchester United prepares for their upcoming match against Chelsea, Tullis-Joyce remains focused on securing a place in the Women’s Champions League. Through it all, her determination and passion for the game come across. She continues to develop, not only as a player, but as an integral part of the national team’s collective mentality.

Looking back on her year to date, Tullis-Joyce said team success and personal milestones mean a lot.

“But I appreciate how much it can represent how much we’ve grown as a team and I’m happy we can share that those achievements so far,” – Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Jamie’s first-hand experience in London City Lionesses’ recent defeat in the Women’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City was a “massive eye-opener”. It stoked her ambition to make a bigger impact both for Manchester United and her nation.
