PGA Championship Third Round Delayed by Severe Weather at Quail Hollow Club

The third round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club faced significant delays on Saturday due to severe weather conditions. Inclement weather forced officials to push back tee times by more than three hours, with play originally scheduled to commence at 8:15 a.m. ET. Lightning in the area led to the suspension of play, leaving players and fans waiting for the storm to pass.

Despite the brutal weather conditions, Jhonattan Vegas heads into the weekend with a two-stroke cushion atop the tournament. He is set to tee off at 1:44 p.m. ET on the first hole, aiming to extend his lead as the day progresses. The excitement continues as some of the biggest names in golf get ready to tee it up.

Fan favorite Rory McIlroy looked like he might miss the cut, too, grinding away to finish at 1 over par. He’ll start his final round on No. 1, hoping to make a push up the leaderboard as the competition unfolds.

That big group of players tied at 5 under par. This year’s Ryder Cup quartet of Scottie Scheffler and Max Homa, who will play the first hole with McIlroy, are in this elite group. How well they do today will have a major say in how much upward movement they’ll see on the 25-team leaderboard.

Si Woo Kim and Matthieu Pavon lead the tournament at 6 under par. First, they will be storming out of the gates on No. 1 with the other player tied for the lead, Matt Fitzpatrick. That’s why, as these players all tee off together on an actual golf course, competition should be intense.
