Sitting at the bottom of the points table, Multan was trounced by Peshawar in one of the performances of the tournament so far. Though the match takes place, Peshawar demonstrated his skill by finishing his chase in 13 overs. What an incredible showing of artistry and athleticism on the pitch! This defeat is a serious setback for Multan. They find themselves bottom of the league table after suffering their eighth defeat during the grand tournament.
Peshawar’s innings started with good tempo at the top, racing to 60 runs for the loss of two wickets in the ninth over. All of this progress was propelled by Saim Ayub, who scored 49 runs for the fledgling team in a great display of hitting. Tayyab Tahir left his mark on the game with his 22 impressive runs. After the shocking dismissal of Tahir, the team went through an astounding collapse, eventually losing eight wickets for only 48 runs. Australian batter Max Bryant fell short of a century but remained among the runs at the wicket. He got the job done, finishing with a superb unbeaten score of 38 and guiding Peshawar to victory.
Unlike the upturn in fortunes seen with Multan this season, on the whole, things are going very badly. The side capitulated for a paltry 108 runs in just 19.1 overs, completing a dismal run of form. Sitting in a dangerous last place on the table with seven losses in eight games, Multan finds itself in a deep hole. Though they face tremendous obstacles, they remain an underdog to watch in the fight, but their outlook is very grim.
Peshawar is presently positioned fifth on the points table in league standings. They’re only one behind the Lahore Qalandars, who have played one more match than Peshawar. With two matches left on the group stage, Peshawar is hungry to stick it to record and make a deep run in the tournament.
