Paula Creamer, a transformative figure in women’s golf, has been named as the new golfer ambassador. She was named as an assistant captain for the U.S. squad at next month’s Solheim Cup. At 38 years old, Creamer has long made her mark as a grizzled veteran. She has had a total of ten LPGA Tour wins, including her major championship victory at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. She first played in the Solheim Cup in 2005 when she was just 19 years old. This accomplishment placed her as the youngest player ever to compete in the event.
During her career, Creamer has been honored to represent the United States in five Solheim Cups. She was involved in the events of 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. The centerpiece of her success is her record-shattering seven foursomes wins. On top of that, she has now earned a whopping 8½ foursomes points, the most by any American player in tournament history. As she prepares for her new role, Creamer will join fellow assistant captains Suzann Pettersen and Kristy McPherson to guide the top twelve American female golfers against Europe.
Last September, the United States of America rightfully boasted about reclaiming the Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia. Looking ahead to the future now, the team is looking toward the next competition, scheduled for September 11-13, 2026. One other thing that’ll be at stake for the U.S. team as they play at Qatar 2023 is their first road win since 2015.
Undoubtedly, Creamer’s commitment to her country and the Solheim Cup runs deep. She said she remained committed to backing U.S. captain Angela Stanford.
“Wearing the Red, White and Blue has been an important part of my career. I have pledged to Angela to do whatever she needs me to do to help her and the U.S. team represent the United States well and ultimately retain the Cup for another two years,” – Paula Creamer.
Angela Stanford commended Creamer’s energy and leadership abilities, recognizing the spark she adds to the group’s chemistry.
“Paula’s passion for her country and the Solheim Cup are infectious. I truly enjoyed being Paula’s teammate when we played on Solheim Cups and when we worked as assistants together in Virginia last year,” – Angela Stanford.
Paula Creamer, the US captain’s pick, comes highly experienced and with proven commitment. She is primed to captain the U.S. team as they prepare for another arduous Solheim Cup battle. Her presence as an assistant captain will motivate her teammates and every fan that watches her. Together, they will fight to become champions on a foreign battlefield.
