Former England captain Paul Ince is awaiting trial after being charged with drink driving. This comes after an incident that occurred on Chester High Road in Neston, involving a black Range Rover colliding. The 5 PM incident on Saturday, June 28 was loud enough it required a police response.
According to Cheshire Constabulary, police officers rushed to the scene in response to calls about the crash. Ince’s vehicle hit the central reservation barrier in the crash. When police arrived, they took the 57-year-old ex-footballer into custody.

Paul Ince, who enjoyed a prolific career as a midfielder, represented several prominent clubs, including West Ham United, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Liverpool. His club success translated to the international stage as well, with 53 appearances for the England national team, where he dazzled defenders with his technical talents.
After managing Notts County and Milton Keynes Dons, Ince became the first black Englishman to manage a Premier League club. Until most recently he was head coach of Reading FC, from 2022-2023. His years in the game of football have helped transform him into a household name, not just in football, but for athletes in general.
Following the incident, Ince was released on bail. He is due to appear at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 18. He resides on Quarry Road in Neston.
The injury resulting from the collision and subsequent arrest has received particular scrutiny given Ince’s high profile as a player within the football community. As the legal process proceeds, fans and commentators across the country are anxiously awaiting the next details to emerge.
