The joint effort between Mahomes and Fedele came together in a nearly accidental fashion. Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner and two-time NFL most valuable player, has long been a connoisseur of caffeine. This intense interest ignited all the way back during his rookie 2017 season. While trying to manage the rigors of life as a professional football player and a dad, he said coffee quickly became a necessary common denominator. I had always been very conscious about what I fed myself, “We tried to picture them,” Mahomes said. Coffee was a huge part of that.

During the event, Mahomes proved to be the perfect ambassador for the brand. He brewed a strong pot of black coffee and dumped in a lot of sugar. He stressed how important the feedback from his teammates is. Definitely, you know, you’re in a quarterback room and a football locker room, so they’re really going to bust on you,” he said. Even though they served their purpose, I wanted to get the feedback. His commitment to Throne Sport Coffee is even deeper than simple endorsement. He plays a key role in other tasting sessions and offers critical insight into the product.

Throne Sport Coffee by all accounts has had amazing success and growth since it started. The brand which launched in 25-state footprint of 3,500 stores. Now, its physical presence is at 6,500 locations and it just recently started a national rollout with Whole Foods Market. This fast growth is a testament to Mahomes’ eye for the brand and his commitment to make sure that the brand is cool and special.

As Mahomes prepares for another NFL campaign, here he on where his team got to the Super Bowl in 2023. In the meantime, he’s been road testing Throne Sport Coffee behind the scenes. Balancing his roles as a professional athlete, father of three, and entrepreneur, he understands the importance of caffeine in managing his busy life. He said, “I’d love for the coffee business to be my life after football. His ambitions for the industry are no less evident and resolute.

The event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with Mahomes personally. He took time to personally greet each guest and even played with the kids at the conference. This unique approach goes beyond just showcasing his accessibility and further reinforces the brand’s community-focused identity. When you’re at these events, you’re not just seeing the brand—you’re feeling it. You really get a chance to engage with the people creating it,” said Anna Stoermer, an attendee of the event.

Mahomes is dedicated to running a fantastic company culture at Throne Sport Coffee. In order to get there, he has set up some very playful, but serious structure for his team. “We have a rule: If you take a coffee, you have to replace it,” he stated. This policy puts everyone on the hook and on the front lines for protecting the future of coffee. He continued, “We had those little coffee boxes plastered on the wall. If you miss one, everybody from the players to the coaches has to run a half gasser! Coaches have to run, too.”

Even with all the accolades on the field and his increasing profile as a businessman, Mahomes has not gotten carried away. He was very candid to admit the shakiness he feels before every meeting of Throne Sport Coffee. He likened that nervousness to what he feels before games. I still get nervous before every match to this day. If you’re not nervous, then you don’t care about the game, you don’t love that game,” he told me.

Throne impressively leaps at the chance to extol the virtues of Throne Sport Coffee, as Mahomes does too. I have faith in myself when I’m on the pitch.
