>The Carolina Panthers are looking forward to an exhilarating season! They’re bringing in plenty of new talent and they’re clearly prioritizing the importance of establishing a moldable, cohesive offense. This year, though, it’s Tetairoa McMillan that’s front and center. He was selected No. 8 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Bryce Young, the Panthers’ quarterback, and Xavier Legette, a wide receiver entering his second year with the team, expressed their enthusiasm about McMillan’s potential.
Measuring in at 6-foot-5, 212 pounds, McMillan has the frame and catch radius to offer a major weapon to the Panthers’ arsenal. Young has previously hyped the rookie’s talents. He continued with energy, saying that having both McMillan and Legette to throw to is “music to my ears.” Adding these two huge, productive receivers is going to be a game-changer for this team’s offensive attack.
As the Panthers prepare for the upcoming season, Coach Dave Canales is focused on establishing an offense that is tailored to Young’s strengths. He’s trying to do it by building an environment for Young to flourish as a second-year player. “We want it to become the Bryce Young offense, become this collective thing and get the chemistry going,” Canales noted.
Young spoke about how working with McMillan in practices has been, showcasing the comfort level that’s beginning to come along. “There were some great plays out there, some great timing on the throws, but just the level of comfort we talked about with the offense, knowing the words, making the tweaks and being a part of that process,” he said.
Like Collins, Xavier Legette, 6-foot-3, 227 pounds, offers day-three capital and is a rich experienced option. As for his rookie season, it was a disaster from all angles. He amassed a catch percentage of only 58.3, the 22nd lowest mark in all of the NFL. He ended the year with seven drops, which was tied for 13th most in the league. Young has observed a newfound confidence in Legette’s approach to catching passes: “He is focused on making catches with his hands more than his body.”
Legette’s enthusiasm and interests aren’t limited to just football, he’s a passionate horse breeder and handler with a commercial stable of standardbred horses. And his long-term dreams are to one day run in the sport’s biggest race, the famed Kentucky Derby. It’s in the realm of his personal interest that his competitive streak both on and off the field shines brightest.
The combination of McMillan’s size and Legette’s determination will give Young a more intimidating pair of weapons in his vast arsenal. Running with them has been the speedy Jimmy Horn Jr., who brings an additional threat to the Panthers’ talented receiving corps. Coach Canales believes that this variety of talent will help Young’s performance in 2025: “The pairing of McMillan and Legette will help Bryce Young take his game to the next level.”
The Panthers are already rolling at training camp. Young and Legette are looking ahead with excitement about their opportunities this coming season. New talent has come into the fold, and we’re committed to developing a new, quarterback-friendly system. The upcoming year looks to be a very exciting one, Carolina fans!
