The devastating Palisades Fire has wreaked havoc in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, destroying more than 1,000 structures and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate. Among those affected is Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, who left the team to be with his family after they were evacuated. Leonard, who resides in the impacted area, promptly flew to Los Angeles to ensure the safety of his loved ones.
The massive blaze has scorched over 11,800 acres, leaving the community grappling with significant loss. Leonard's decision to leave the Clippers comes at a critical time, as he was set to play against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. However, the urgency to prioritize family safety took precedence over his return to the court.
Leonard made his season debut on January 4 against Atlanta after missing the start of the season due to inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee. He has since averaged 10 points in 20 minutes per game. Despite his recent return, Leonard chose family over basketball, a decision fully supported by Clippers Coach Tyronn Lue.

The Clippers faced the Denver Nuggets without Leonard's presence, resulting in a 126-103 loss. The absence of their star player was felt, yet Coach Lue emphasized the importance of Leonard's priorities.
