Mohammad Haris was the star performer for Pakistan, hitting a critical 31 runs. He built good combinations with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz. Together, they plugged the middle overs and bailed India out in the process against a high-quality Bangladeshi bowling unit. Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed were the stars with the ball for Bangladesh, each taking game-changing wickets. Their sacking of Afridi, Nawaz and Haris was instrumental in restricting Pakistan’s score.
Pakistan’s bowlers were magical in their defense of the total. They bowled tightly, containing Bangladesh to a mere 124 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allocated 20 overs. Pakistan’s history in the Asia Cup hasn’t always been bad, they’ve won it two times in 2000 and 2012. Their most recent run in the final came during the 2022 edition of the tournament. This year’s final against India is a historic moment for Pakistan. The two teams have played each other twice all tournament, and missed chances meant that Pakistan lost both matches—both heartbreaking defeats.
