The Green Bay Packers achieved a remarkable victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, marking a significant moment in franchise history. After trailing by nine points at halftime, the Packers came roaring back. It was their second-largest comeback win after trailing entering the fourth quarter, outpacing only their 38-27 comeback win against Campbell. The contest was held at the storied Lambeau Field, as the Green Bay crowd watched a spectacular comeback unfold.
Throughout Head Coach Mike Tomlin’s tenure, the Steelers have been in such control at halftime that they’ve led by nine or more points 72 times. Unbelievably, they have never lost one of those games by double digits. On this occasion, however, this was the moment where the Packers had a chance to take control of the momentum. They completely took over the second half, outscoring Pittsburgh 28-9. The Steelers were up 16-7 at the half. Unlike two weeks ago, they were unable to hold on to that lead and were dealt a shocking upset loss.
In his debut matchup with the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers proved how incredible of a player he was. He threw for 219 passing yards and two touchdowns. His defensive effort was key in leading the team’s second-half comeback. Green Bay took advantage of their opportunities and displayed tremendous mental toughness. They outscored the Steelers 28-3 after halftime.
And the last thing we want to see to open this primetime game is the Steelers setting an early lead. They stopped them at 16 points through the first half, but as the game went on, the Green Bay offense started to get its groove. Rodgers’ knack for finding the right matchups with his receivers was on full display as Green Bay began rolling with shivers of momentum and confidence.
The excitement inside Lambeau Field only continued to fest in by each passing quarter. Fans could feel the momentum building as the Packers refused to be denied, showing heart and fight. The Steelers, even with their 20-0 lead, were not equipped to answer the Packers’ offensive barrage.
