The Indiana Pacers achieved a remarkable feat on Tuesday night, overcoming a staggering 27-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-118 in double overtime. The Pacers matched up beautifully against them, celebrating their 50th win of the season with a riveting victory. This game became the franchise’s biggest comeback win of all time. Trailing 94-73 with a little more than eight minutes remaining in regulation, the Pacers looked to be in quite the predicament. With under head coach Rick Carlisle’s system, the defense picked up steam. Their smartest moves came when they signed and added three of their own two-way contracts. One other notable exception to call this player a standout would be an understatement. The other big surprise player was a center who the team signed to a 10-day contract in early March.
Despite fielding only 11 players, the Pacers managed to outlast the Cavaliers, who sat out nine of their regular rotation players, including four starters. Cleveland’s harrowing decision gave Indiana’s much-vaunted depth a chance to show itself. They did so by dominating the rebounding battle against Cleveland, out-rebounding the Cavaliers by nine and only committing two turnovers in the entire game.
Jackson led the Pacers with a team-high 21 points. He scored a remarkable 15 of those in the fourth quarter when his team needed him most. His performance was crucial as Indiana fought its way back into the game.

And the longer this game progressed, now into double overtime, the more beautiful something struck Carlisle. His players exhibited not only great skill, but astounding endurance.
“Our guys were tired, but we were fresher,” – Carlisle
Though both squads fought fatigue, the Pacers took advantage of their clean legs, making key plays down the stretch on campaign’s most important end. Carlisle said that this change played a key part in their great success in coming back from deficits.
“We started to get some stops, Cleveland started to get tired and there was some momentum. In the second overtime, we outlasted them,” – Carlisle
The Pacers’ bench was crucial in this heavyweight contest. They used nine players in the first half alone to keep themselves in the thick of things. Carlisle specifically pointed out the collective focus and resolve from his side’s effort.
“Certainly proud of the group that finished the game. They showed so much courage and fortitude, it was amazing,” – Carlisle
Outside of Jackson’s star performance, all around each guy contributed whenever they needed to, showing teamwork, fight, and togetherness.
“I think we all did a good job of stepping up, accepting the challenge and then locking them down,” – Jackson
