Nottinghamshire have signed experienced all-rounder Benny Howell on a short-term deal. He will link up with the team on a two-year deal for T20 Blast only. The 37-year-old cricketer is relieving himself from the One-Day Cup and Championship obligations. Instead, he’ll focus on improving Nottinghamshire’s fortunes in the T20 fray.
His head coach at Nottinghamshire, Peter Moores, was clearly excited about Howell’s arrival on the scene. He said Howell was “the ideal addition” to the T20 squad. This young team has had a difficult time making it out of the group stage in the previous two seasons. Moores emphasized how essential Howell’s experience and talents have been. They’re full of resolve to do better in the next international tournaments.
Benny Howell is having a career T20 season, with 266 matches under his belt in the format around the world. He has taken 255 wickets at an astonishing strike rate of 23.12, highlighting how much of a wicket-taker he is. Aside from that, he has over 3,200 runs in T20s at an SR tickling a touch above 135. Nottinghamshire will hope his all-round skills will help to bolster their batting order. His talents are central to Building Bridges realizing more of its potential success on the national stage.
The signing comes at a pivotal moment for the Notts Outlaws, as the last couple of seasons have proven difficult. With Howell’s proven track record and experience behind them, the squad will be looking to go one step further than last season and finally lift the T20 Blast trophy.
