The San Francisco 49ers have bolstered their receiving corps by signing wide receiver D. Robinson to a two-year, $9.5 million contract. The deal, which includes $6 million fully guaranteed, marks a significant addition to the 49ers' lineup as the 30-year-old receiver brings his experience and recent career highs in receiving to the team.
Robinson, who spent the last two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, showcased impressive performance in 2024. He achieved career highs across multiple metrics, including receiving yards, touchdowns, and an average of 16.3 yards per reception. His 31 catches accounted for 505 yards and seven touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to be a reliable target. Furthermore, Robinson played all 17 regular-season games and participated in two playoff matches during the season.
Before his stint with the Rams, Robinson played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022. During that season, he appeared in 17 games, recording 48 catches for 458 yards and two touchdowns. His career began as a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent six seasons honing his skills and contributing to the team's offensive efforts.
Over nine seasons in the NFL, Robinson has accumulated 250 catches for 3,013 yards and scored 27 touchdowns. Despite his on-field success, his career has not been without challenges. In January, he was charged with one count of misdemeanor DUI following an arrest in November for suspicion of driving under the influence. The incident involved driving over 100 mph on U.S. Route 101.
The addition of Robinson is expected to provide valuable depth and experience to the 49ers' wide receiving unit. His proven track record of consistent performance and ability to contribute in high-pressure situations make him a strategic acquisition for the team.
