Nikola Topic, a 20-year-old guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder and European prospect undergoing chemotherapy. He has in recent days been diagnosed with testicular cancer. The news was confirmed by Thunder’s general manager, Sam Presti, in a press conference on Thursday. In a statement, Presti announced that Topic had to endure a biopsy procedure earlier this month at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Topic was selected 12th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. That made for an even tougher year, considering he had to miss the entire prior season while recovering from a torn ACL. That was a far cry from health problems he’s recently been going through, which only compound the challenges he’s faced since entering the league.
