Niemann Claims Fifth Title at LIV Golf UK Despite Stiff Competition

Joaquín Niemann earned the fifth victory of his breakout 2025 season with a win at LIV Golf UK. He ended with the two-round total of 17-under 196. On Sunday, he shot a confidence-building 3-under 68. His crew, Torque GC, was unable to preserve their three-stroke advantage after Legion XIII charged back in a furious pace, winning it with their own remarkable 14-under par today and 35-under par for the week. That was a historic eight-stroke lead for Niemann’s squad.

Despite the sights and sounds of celebration, Niemann’s week had started with an extremely difficult obstacle. He fired his caddie and coach after missing the cut at the 2025 Open Championship. Despite this blow, he was able to re-direct himself during the tournament and put together a successful showing. He added up 5 birdies and 2 bogeys during the entire tournament.

Another Tournament star, Caleb Surratt, going bogey-free with six birdies to earn a 13-under finish. Talor Gooch was just a whisker off the pace, finishing 11-under for the event.

During his last round, Niemann felt the pressure during the crucial holes 13 and 14. Bubba Watson was the biggest mover of the day, going on a spectacular run from No. 9 to No. 14 that produced four birdies and two eagles. Yet, Niemann never flinched and demonstrated the key to getting through the most intense situations—staying in the moment.

“I felt like today I was pretty calm, pretty chill, until Bubba [Watson] started playing golf. Yeah, he made it tough for me. I was actually feeling the pressure on 13, 14, but, yeah, just stay in the present.” – Joaquín Niemann

Niemann’s knack for responding in the moment after realizing this was on the line came through again when he drilled a huge putt on 15. He shared that getting birdies in the tough stretch of the final holes was a big factor in his strong performance throughout the week.

“Yeah, I was pretty happy to see that ball go in that close, and making that birdie I think was huge for the next three holes.” – Joaquín Niemann

Jon Rahm, reflecting on the performance of Legion XIII, remarked on their teamwork.

“With all four scores counting this year I thought we played to our advantage. It showed early on and it’s showing now.” – Jon Rahm

At the same time, Niemann’s victory improved his burgeoning place in the cutthroat world of LIV Golf. It did land him a huge $4 million payout. His victories this season now add up to championships in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, and Virginia.
