Each front office, including the Giants’, has to trim the active roster down to 53 players at most. This deadline is always an important time in the league’s preseason calendar.
Teams will be shuffling rosters through critical cuts and/or trades the next two days and practice squad additions on Wednesday. Fans and media alike are just a few days away from a possible tornado of activity. Front offices are dealing with the realities of roster management as they get ready for the next season.
One of the biggest names being judged is Matthew Stafford, QB of the Los Angeles Rams. Right now he’s still dealing with a significant back injury. Despite concerns surrounding Stafford’s health, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky has stated that he is not overly worried about the Rams’ prospects. Orlovsky was clear to point out that even with Stafford’s injury, the Lions don’t need to lower their sights for this next season. He outlined that the Rams have a clear vision and strategic approach, regardless of Stafford’s physical condition.
