The 2023 NFL Honors is ready to celebrate the best of the best from last season. They plan to unveil a new gold shield patch, modeled after the NFL Honors logo. During the upcoming 2025 season, players who receive one of the five highly regarded Associated Press awards will be repping exclusive patches with pride. These patches will be sewn onto the collar of their game jerseys.
Quarterback Josh Allen of the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player will have the gold patch home proudly. He’ll take the field with it this upcoming season. The patch represents his success and honors all of his hard work and excellence out on the field last year. Allen will be accompanied to the NHL by other exceptional players who sported the patch. Among them were Saquon Barkley, the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year, Pat Surtain II, the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, Jayden Daniels, the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Jared Verse, the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.
These gold shield wall patches will permanently outfit the jerseys of the five finalist award winners. If they’re approved, they’ll remain in place for the entire 2026 regular season and playoffs. The patches will make their debut during the highly anticipated season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys, showcasing the league’s commitment to recognizing excellence in performance.
Allen’s first opportunity to defend and show off his patch is just around the corner. He’ll certainly face quarterback Lamar Jackson, and the Giants will play an exciting game against the Baltimore Ravens. Jackson’s season was as magical as it was astonishing.
