Isaiah Bond, a promising wide receiver projected as a second-round draft pick, turned himself in to authorities on Thursday morning due to an outstanding sexual assault warrant. A spokesman for the Frisco, Texas, Police Department said that Bond, 21, turned himself in without incident. He subsequently bonded out with bail set at $25,000 and left Collin County jail.
Bond’s name has recently circulated in NFL discussions, particularly following ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest mock draft, where he is projected to be selected No. 57 overall by the Carolina Panthers. This projection is a testament to the immense skill Bond has displayed throughout his time in college. He played his first two seasons at the University of Alabama. There, he continued his remarkable production, posting 65 receptions for 888 yards and five scores. On the ground, he added 98 rushing yards and another score.
After leaving Alabama, Bond was set to join the University of Texas for the 2024 season. During his one season down in Austin, Robinson was everything the five-star prospect was billed to be. He notched 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdown TDs. He demonstrated his elite athletic skill set with a jaw-dropping 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. During a recent game against UTSA, he ran 22 mph too.
Bond’s exceptional athletic accomplishments have set him apart as one of the best NFL prospects. This was why the allegations against him, while serious, were not insurmountable. Details regarding the allegations remain unclear. Bond turned to his Instagram account to vehemently refute those accusations. He decried them as “palpably untrue.”
“Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false.” – Isaiah Bond
As rival executives begin to plan for the NFL draft, Bond’s predicament injects a whole session of doubt into his professional football career cosmic future. This legal issue will have a major impact on his draft stock. Teams will be focused on molding his athletic gifts and off-field behavior into his on-field contributions—making or breaking his NFL career.
