The NFC emerged victorious in the 2025 Pro Bowl Games, defeating the AFC with a score of 76-63. Held in a flag football format that began in 2023, the Pro Bowl Games have seen the NFC dominate for three consecutive years. This format shift has not only heightened the competition but also reduced players' concerns over injuries. The event, hosted with much fanfare, included diverse activities such as a relay race and tug of war, both won by the NFC, while the AFC claimed victory in the "punt perfect" event.
The Pro Bowl Games featured a highly competitive flag football match, where the NFC triumphed with a close score of 56-50. Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff played a pivotal role, earning the offensive MVP title by completing 10 of 11 pass attempts for 126 yards and three touchdowns. His performance gave the AFC an early advantage, setting an intense pace for the game.
"We were trying to win," said Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.
Despite the AFC's strong start, the NFC's resilience led them to complete their own three-peat in the Pro Bowl Games. As part of this victory, members of the winning team received $92,000 each, while those on the losing side took home $46,000. The financial incentive added an extra layer of motivation for the players.
"They told us what the prize was, and I was like, 'We might need to do a little bit more.' So, that's what we did." – Bijan Robinson
The flag football format has been well-received by players, with Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker expressing his preference for it over traditional tackle football. The format allows players to engage without the usual fears associated with injuries. Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold echoed this sentiment, appreciating the relaxed yet competitive nature of flag football after a grueling season.
"I think [flag] is really fun, especially after the season when guys have been kind of chilling for three weeks. It's good to just ease into a game of flag football." – Sam Darnold
