Newcastle United Increases Bid for Nottingham Forest’s Elanga

Newcastle United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga. They’ve since returned with an improved proposal worth closer to the £55 million mark. This follow-up bid comes after an initial offer of around £45 million, which Forest turned down last week. The club is understood to rate the player at £60m. Despite the club’s reluctance to part ways with the 21-year-old forward, Newcastle’s pursuit indicates their commitment to enhancing their attacking options.

Elanga has impressed all season long with his exciting raw talent. He’s been generally touted as excited to be part of the project at Newcastle United, led by manager Eddie Howe. The club hopes to strengthen the squad further as they look to challenge for the title and progress deep in the Champions League. Howe sees Elanga as one of these players, a major addition that would really help to revamp the team’s attacking options.

As far as commodity value goes, there was reportedly a £50 million bid for Elanga placed by Newcastle on deadline day last summer. Nottingham Forest quickly turned the bid down. Newcastle have been absolutely shameless in their attempts to lure the young winger. In Houston’s eyes, they have no doubt that he can help change the trajectory of their disappointing squad.

Nottingham Forest’s management has expressed a firm stance regarding Elanga’s future, stating their intention to retain him. The club’s refusal to entertain offers below their valuation reflects their confidence in Elanga’s abilities and importance to their plans moving forward.

Aside from Elanga, clubs are looking at a number of attacking options. PSV’s Johan Bakayoko, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, and West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus have emerged as potential targets in the transfer market. Newcastle are prioritizing landing Elanga as they try to add to their attacking core and cement themselves in the top four.

The current negotiations between Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest are representative of a cut-throat transfer window. As clubs aim to strengthen their squads, Elanga remains a focal point of interest, highlighting his growing reputation in English football.
