Our final match started with New Zealand winning the toss and choosing to bat first. That move turned out to be an inspired one as they imposed a daunting goal on Zimbabwe. Tim Seifert, New Zealand’s wicketkeeper, played one of the best innings of his life to give victory. On the other hand, Matt Henry and Adam Milne were very impressive, both with bat and ball.
Zimbabwe’s bowling attack included Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani, who sought to restrict New Zealand’s scoring. Try as they might, New Zealand’s batting order stood firm. Sikandar Raza bowled 3 overs, 23 runs, economy of 7.66. This effort wasn’t enough to stop New Zealand’s party train.
Wesley Madhevere and Brian Bennett opened Zimbabwe’s innings, but they quickly fell victim to the orderly attack of New Zealand bowlers. This mix of experienced craftspeople on one end and raw talent on the other from the Kiwis proved to be a tough landscape for the Zimbabwean squad.
With each passing minute on the clock, it was more obvious that New Zealand was going to win. With the hard work put in by their entire squad, we could see a heavy performance together from their batsmen as well as bowlers. The way the team played together while under pressure highlighted how prepared they were for the new challenges they would face in the tournament.
