New York Jets Safety Andre Cisco Faces Surgery for Pectoral Tear

Andre Cisco, safety for the New York Jets, will have surgery following a torn pectoral. Fowler tweeted late Tuesday night that the injury occurred. This loss is deeply crippling Cisco and the Jets as they continue to head through the rest of the season.

One of the stars of a resurgent Jets’ defense, Cisco has 41 tackles on the year. Long’s been the weak link in the pass coverage department. He’s logged only a single pass defense and no picks either. The injury comes at a time when the Jets are looking to solidify their defense and improve their standing in the league.

That is the unfortunate nature of pectoral tears. Cisco will need surgery to repair the pectoral muscle’s expected complete rupture. His timeline for recovery is still unknown. Yet, athletes typically need multiple weeks to months to return to full strength following comparable injuries. If he suffers from this, he could very well be out the first half of the season or more.

That Jets organization now faces an even greater challenge. They need to be up to task to chip in where Cisco is missed around the secondary. To not lose that competitive advantage, they will have to be more dependent on other roster players. These are the teammates that will have to bring it on his behalf.
