The New York Jets are experiencing a season filled with notable achievements, marked by their recent victory against the Atlanta Falcons. This win further increases this powerful pair’s perfect track record. Since Week 8, they’re 5-1, with their only loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, having beaten six other teams that qualified for the 2024 playoffs.
Since taking over as head coach in 2022, Aaron Glenn’s Jets have made a remarkable turnaround. Perhaps the most impressive part of their run has been the consistency and depth on the offensive line. In fact, they’ve started the exact same quintet since Week 1. It’s the first time since 2012 that the Jets have been able to provide this kind of stability. They’ve maintained it even as the season has progressed.
The Jets’ offense is starting to focus more on their rushing attack. It represents a notable 48% of their total offense, the highest percentage in the NFL. Running back Breece Hall has been pivotal in this strategy, and Glenn noted his performance, stating, “I just think his confidence is at an all-time high right now, and we want to continue to get him the ball as much as we can.” Hall’s impact has been instrumental as the Jets look to establish themselves among the elite this season.
After their recent trades on November 4, the team dynamics have totally shifted. Last year cornerback Sauce Gardner, along with defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, represented the Jets in the Pro Bowl. These shifts have been welcomed openings for younger players to seize the chance. Specifically, seven rooks and 2nd years have played 45+ snaps, with four 2025 Draft classmates contributing. This infusion of youth has brought an exciting combination of energy and talent, giving the Jets’ roster a fresh look.
In the matchup against the Falcons, the Jets were able to show how scrappy and tough they are. They rallied from behind to win three games this year. Two of these wins required dramatic comebacks in the fourth quarter, highlighting the team’s determination and ability to perform under pressure.
The play of second-year wide receiver Adonai Mitchell has raised some eyebrows too. His growth this season has been on full display, having quickly become an integral piece to the Jets’ passing game. Glenn previously addressed Mitchell’s usage, referencing the criticism he received for not playing him enough: “Well, you guys got pissed at me last week for not playing him,” he remarked.
Just like defense, special teams has been extremely important in the Jets’ success thus far. Nick Folk, the team’s field goal kicker, has been money in the pipes late, and kept series alive and points coming by providing valuable insurance with convertibles. Punter Austin McNamara and returners Isaiah Williams and Kene Nwangwu have provided solid support, ensuring that field position remains favorable throughout games.
That consistency on the O-line has elevated the performance of individual players in that room. It’s made the rest of the team more successful, too. Developing a chemistry among the new line will be paramount. It helps with cleaner play execution, which is essential for an effective rushing offense. This is a departure for a franchise that has long been plagued by injuries and inconsistent lineups in recent seasons.
