The PGA Tour announced the appointment of four new members to its Player Advisory Council (PAC) on Tuesday. The PAC, which plays a crucial role in advising the PGA Tour Policy Board and Commissioner Jay Monahan, now includes Eric Cole, Trevor Cone, Max McGreevy, and Gary Woodland, marking their first participation in the council's activities. The PAC, consisting of 16 members, is integral to the governance structure of the PGA Tour.
The newly appointed members will collaborate with experienced players such as Sam Burns, Rickie Fowler, Brian Harman, Charley Hoffman, Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, Maverick McNealy, Keith Mitchell, Séamus Power, Scottie Scheffler, Brandt Snedeker, and Justin Thomas. These individuals are tasked with providing input and guidance on various issues impacting the PGA Tour. The chairman of the PAC and its subcommittees will be announced later.
Last year, the PAC made several significant recommendations to the Policy Board, including a proposal to decrease the number of PGA Tour cards issued and adjustments to the number of players in a starting field for open tournaments. Although these recommendations are advisory in nature, they influence the decision-making of the Policy Board, which holds the power to implement or reject them.
The PAC's involvement ensures that players have a voice in the governance of the tour. With Commissioner Jay Monahan at the helm, the PAC works closely with the Policy Board to ensure that player perspectives are taken into account when making decisions that affect the tour's operations and its athletes.
