The NBA's Rising Stars tournament is poised to be a highlight of the 2025 All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. This year's event will showcase a pool of 28 players, including ten promising NBA rookies, eleven sophomores, and seven standout G League players, delivering a thrilling blend of emerging talent. Among the notable participants are four Frenchmen, with Victor Wembanyama and Zaccharie Risacher, who were the top picks in the past two drafts, leading the pack.
The tournament, scheduled for February 14, promises intense competition with three games determining the ultimate victor. The semifinals will see Team A face off against Team B and Team C challenge Team D. The winner will be the first team to reach or surpass 40 points in the semifinals and 25 points in the championship game. Adding to the excitement, the league will conduct the Rising Stars Draft on February 4, where honorary head coaches will draft the three teams of NBA All-Stars.
The winning Rising Stars team will have a unique opportunity to compete in the All-Star Game mini-tournament on February 16 against the NBA All-Stars. This team will be dubbed Team Candace, with TNT analyst and three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker serving as honorary General Manager. The player pool has been meticulously selected, with 21 NBA players chosen by NBA assistants and seven NBA G-League players picked by the league office.
