It turns out they’re not the only ones, as their bright-eyed optimism is contagious.
None are as sunny as ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, who has the Thunder 6th. He even dares to forecast them winning the finals in a mere five games! This prediction is in agreement with Evan Cohen, who similarly expects Oklahoma City to win in five games. Joe Fortenbaugh and Chris Herring agree on this score, both predicting a Thunder championship in five games as well. ESPN’s Bobby Marks and ESPN’s Myron Medcalf have echoed this confidence, speaking to impressive faith in the Thunder’s potential.
A few analysts have made heavy online investments in the Indiana Pacers. Chris Canty sees the Pacers and Pistons in a very competitive series, going the full seven games, but with Indiana emerging victorious. Freddie Coleman has the upset as well, predicting the Pacers to win the series in six games. This flow of differing predictions serves to underscore just how competitive this year’s Finals was expected to be and the unpredictability that playoff basketball always provides.
Besides their own localized predictions, many other experts have hopped on the bandwagon to make Thunder the pick.
