Najee Harris Set to Start Against Chiefs After Injury Recovery

LA Chargers plan to unleash Najee Harris in season opener. They’ll do battle with the Kansas City Chiefs. Though the injury is serious, Coach Jim Harbaugh indicated that Harris would be back on the field soon. He ended up missing all of training camp due to an eye injury from a fireworks explosion accident.

After a difficult preseason, Harris quickly came into his own. He’s really only been with the Chargers for six practices before the regular season. Even so, he made huge strides in the last few days. While on the field at a public practice Monday, Harris wore a helmet with a darkened visor. He’s definitely left that precaution in place through the summer workouts.

On Wednesday, that was exactly what Harris did the moment their team touched down in Brazil. Then, just a few hours later he took part in light on-field work with his teammates. His work during practice has helped set the bar high for fans and coaches on what to expect.

“He says he’s ready, and he looks ready to go,” – Jim Harbaugh

Harris made it known that getting back to his football shape was a priority. He was realistic about the hurdles he encountered while healing but is hopeful about being prepared for the since The Experience at the end of this month.

“I’m ramping up to it, just trying to get back in that football shape. But I am feeling good though, and we’ll just see where it leads,” – Najee Harris

While his eye injury appeared, according to Harris, as “superficial” as it gets, he wasn’t discouraged from focusing on a return. When it comes to how the public perceives his tinted visor, he said he stopped stressing over that long ago. Rather than spend time making headlines off the field, he focuses his efforts on the field.

The Los Angeles Chargers are preparing for their upcoming regular season opener. Harris’s return will be a huge boon for their offensive game plan as they match up with the Chiefs. His ability to get back to form early will be a key part of the team’s success.
