Myles Garrett, defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is about to make NFL history. He’s just seven sacks from breaking the single-season sack record, and the buzz is palpable! Picture this — in week 6, he already has 22 sacks this season. With only half a sack remaining, he’s on the verge of breaking the record jointly held by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt. Garrett said he’s looking forward to his home finale against the Green Bay Packers. The anticipation increases as he goes head-up against their known quarterback—Hall of Fame quarterback, Aaron Rodgers!
The contest comes on the heels of the Dolphins’ brutal loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6. In that meeting, the Browns folded like a cheap tent and were defeated 23-9. Garrett’s had a ton of success vs the Steelers in recent home games. He netted five sacks in his past two meetings with the franchise. These accomplishments against Pittsburgh have cemented his legacy. The Steelers lost each of those games.
At the time, Garrett said he hoped to be the first person to reach this record-breaking milestone. He called it “unique” to get the historic takedown while facing off against Rodgers in Sunday’s game. Along with the anxiety, there’s an amazing excitement. The fact that I’ll be on the same field as someone I consider simply “legendary.” This moment is deeply meaningful for him.
