Mitchell Robinson Emerges as Key Player in Knicks’ Playoff Push

Mitchell Robinson has re-solidified himself as a key piece of the New York Knicks’ playoff push. His impactful performance in Game 6 against the Boston Celtics showcased his abilities and resilience, particularly following a lengthy recovery from a significant ankle injury.

Robinson made one of the most important plays of the game. His performance elevated the Knicks’ Game 5 win and helped carry them deeper in the playoffs! His return in late February and addition to the starting lineup has completely revolutionized the team’s defense. Today, they’re an undeniable and intimidating force on the court. At just 27 years old, Robinson is now the Knicks’ most experienced and tenured player who will provide both an experienced voice and all-star skill on the roster.

Robinson had already missed the first 58 games of his rookie season due to a stress reaction in his left ankle. Fast forward to today and his comeback has been nothing short of amazing! His surgery came right before the Knicks’ postseason was set to start. His drive to come back has been hugely positive for the squad.

In Game 3 against the Celtics, Robinson proved his worth, starting and logging 29 minutes. His impact was palpable. He heavily contested shots inside the arc and defended Boston’s lethal pick-and-roll attack out to the three-point line. Robinson’s contributions on both ends of the floor resulted in a plus-46 rating during the series against Boston, highlighting his essential role in the Knicks’ success.

Robinson’s presence has allowed New York to contest an impressive 52% of Indiana’s shot attempts with him on the court. This defensive prowess has been integral to the Knicks’ playoff success so far, as they hope to continue playing to their strengths.
