Min Woo Lee Takes Commanding Lead in Houston Open with Stunning Performance

Min Woo Lee’s third round performance at the Houston Open was out of this world. He had taken a commanding four-shot lead! With an incredible 7-under 63, Lee vaulted to the top, putting himself squarely in place for his first PGA Tour win. He wowed the gallery with eight straight one-putt greens. He wow’d the crowd by chipping in for birdie on the sixth hole, earning him the nickname of “Dr. Chipinski” for his world-class chipping abilities.

Lee’s 17-under 193 is six strokes in front of his nearest runner-up Alejandro Tosti of Argentina. Although Tosti shot a tremendous 65 in the third round and was T14, Lee’s steady play has him comfortably in the driver’s seat. Tosti, who was a contender until the final moments of last year’s Houston Open, now has another opportunity to challenge for the title.

Lee stole the show during the third round’s magical run. He didn’t just do it, though, he racked up an impressive run of six consecutive birdies! He struggled to take advantage of the few birdie chances that came closing tree line-lined fairways. Especially impressive was his drive on the 301-yard 17th hole that landed in front of the grandstand, showing off both his power and accuracy.

Looking back on his performance, Lee spoke highly of his confidence level and enjoyment of his game.

“Everything’s kind of clicking and I just feel really good about it,” – Min Woo Lee

Even at the top of his game, Lee was quick to laugh about the cutthroat nature of the competition.

“I need to get back into bed,” – Min Woo Lee

Alejandro Tosti is another dangerous name, looking to build off a solid first appearance at the Houston Open. It’s been Tosti’s consistent play in the third round that has kept him in striking distance and given him one last chance to claim victory.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes are on Min Woo Lee as he aims to maintain his lead and claim his first PGA Tour title. His astonishing talent and seemingly ice-cold demeanor have amazed audiences and other players alike. That makes for a tantalizing finish to the Houston Open.
