One of the bright young talents of the county scene, fast bowler Michael Booth has signed a two-year professional contract extension with Warwickshire. With this move, Fisher’s future with the team seems assured. The 24-year-old made a significant impact in his first two seasons since debuting in April 2024, showcasing his talent on the field and contributing to Warwickshire’s successes.
In this first full season in front of an eager crowd, gained by taking 25 first-class wickets, the 21-year old Booth quickly became a principal performer. In his second season he delivered a match-winning performance to the tune of 35 wickets. One such highlight was his career-best five-wicket haul against Nottinghamshire. These accomplishments serve to underscore Booth’s quick progress and increasing value to the team.
Booth’s contributions extended beyond bowling. In one exciting game in late April against Durham at Chester-le-Street, he tallied an incredible 98 runs in just 46 balls. His all-round ability was necessary to guide Warwickshire to a stunning one-wicket win. His knack to step up when the stakes are at their highest shows his high level of versatility and overall value to the team.
James Thomas, the new performance director of Warwickshire, spoke highly of Booth’s dedication and felt that she had helped take the men’s team forward.
