All-Pro-conditioned Micah Parsons of the Green Bay Packers will still play in a limited capacity, Twitter Getty. The Packers take on the Detroit Lions this Sunday. This comes on the heels of his involvement in all four practices this week, where he went as a limited participant each day. The Packers are expecting a lot from Parsons, who last week signed a four-year, $188 million contract extension.
Parsons’ contract extension was a clear indication of his impact and value to the team. That means he is one of seven players currently listed as questionable for the game. Fans and analysts alike are waiting with bated breath as to his status. Last week, Parsons put on full display his readiness to accept whatever role the coaching staff envisions for him. Now he’s poised to hit the ground running come Week 1!
“I have the utmost confidence in our amazing conditioning staff, coaches,” Parsons said following Thursday’s practice. “They’re just making sure I’m learning the plays and doing everything that I need to do if I get the green light to play.”
Rob Demovsky, ESPN’s ace NFL reporter who’s been covering the Green Bay Packers for decades. He commended Parsons on a strong first impression with the team, despite his limited activity thus far. His capacity to absorb plays and then adjust will be key to how he performs against Detroit.
DeMarcus Covington, then a coach in the Packers’ organization, spoke highly on Parsons’ skills and work ethic.
“Smart guy, loves ball, very high football IQ, a guy obviously with God-given talent,” Covington said.
The Packers are licking their chops at the prospect of Parsons wrecking the game. They feel he can still make a meaningful impact. Just like with all team officials, health and recovery remain top priorities to make sure he’s ready for a long season ahead.
As kickoff gets closer, fans will look forward to more news on Parsons’ game-day availability. To turn it around, his training staff and coaching team will give him constant evaluation. His future usage will depend on their evaluations — use him to the fullest or less than that.
