Meyers Remains Committed to Raiders Amid Trade Request

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has certainly made headlines this season. He’s not only putting on a show for the fans with his talents, he wants to get the hell out of town. The 27-year-old player has been superb throughout his career. In 2022, he recorded a career-high 1,027 yards and has eclipsed 800 yards in four straight seasons. And perhaps contrary to the trade request he filed last month in August, Meyers is all in on what he’s doing right now.

As for the present, Meyers is having a monster 2025 campaign, with 29 receptions for 329 yards in six games. A knee and second toe injury, suffered during a week 16 contest with the Tennessee Titans, kept him out of action last week. After going down for two days of practice, he returned with a fiery day on Friday. He had joined in Tuesday’s practice too and sounded optimistic about being ready for the Week 9 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Meyers is in the final year of his three-year, $33 million pact that he initially signed with the Raiders in 2023. He went on to play four seasons with the New England Patriots. Throughout his career, he has played in 97 games and started 76 of them. Over his career, the 6-5, 240-pounder has tallied 422 receptions for 4,921 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Even with his trade request, Meyers still seems to be realistic about where this is headed.

“It’s no reason for me to keep going back crying to them, ‘Can you get me out of here?’” – Jakobi Meyers

>He said he’s been very clear with his intentions, but added that his priorities moving forward are being available for his teammates. “If you move me, you move me. But in the meantime, I got some real people that I care about next to me, so I’m trying to make sure I’m being my best self for them,” Meyers stated.

Meyers has aimed to broaden his resume beyond trade discussions with the Raiders. Rather, he’s focused on playing better and getting healthy enough to play at all. He didn’t shy away from the fact that there are trade rumors surrounding him. Yet, he’s unflinching and not allowing them to swerve him from doing his duty on the field.

Oh, what time is your flight? It’s a joke in one respect, On Twitter, he noted the sarcastic reporting, suggesting that he’s weathering the speculation quite well so far.

Meyers expressed frustration about missing games due to injury, stating, “It wasn’t cool sitting on the bench watching guys lose like that.” It’s his intellectual commitment to being a team player that comes out in that sort of will to recover. He can’t wait to help the Raiders win, though.
