Max Aarons Joins Rangers on Loan from Bournemouth

Rangers Football Club can today confirm the signing of Max Aarons on loan from AFC Bournemouth. The southeastern club introduced their new 25-year-old defender, making him their second summer transfer window signing. This is hot on the heels of them signing Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron. The intent of this move is to shore up the team’s back line as they get into position for their first round Champions League qualifier with Panathinaikos.

Aarons developed tremendous experience and composure during his time outside of Canaries. Bournemouth move Earlier this year, Brooks transferred to Bournemouth in a deal that could reach £12 million. His time at Bournemouth featured few impactful appearances, having only made four appearances last season. In January, he moved to Valencia on loan. His goal was to earn some additional playing time and gain experience in a different league with a different style of play.

Both new head coach Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell signed off on bringing Aarons to Rangers. Their collaboration even further cemented the team’s strategic North Star. The signing alone sparked excitement from Martin who has history with Aarons dating back to their time at Norwich. And he added: “I’ve always had a close focus on Max, I saw him come through the youth ranks at Norwich as I was ending my playing career there. He’s a fabulously gifted player who’s eager to learn, grow and contribute to winning for his team.

Aaron will now challenge Rangers captain James Tavernier for the starting right-back spot. This ingrained competition helps build depth to the squad as they continue to push for glory in both domestic and European competition. The defender expressed his excitement about joining the Glasgow club, emphasizing its stature in football.

Aarons’ loan deal doesn’t come with an option to buy, meaning his future after this season is still up in the air.
