Marvin Harrison Jr. Aims for Precision and Strength in Second Season with Cardinals

Marvin Harrison Jr. It’s now Phase 2 of the Arizona Cardinals’ offseason program. Through his work, he’s putting on display a more powerful and self-assured side of him. The promising wide receiver hopes to continue that trend as he gets ready for his second season with the NFL. Having had so much attention paid to his weight and performance, Harrison Jr. has set out to take big leaps in his game.

Since the end of last season, Harrison Jr has spent the seven months in between training at the Cardinals’ facility. He has put a lot of effort focusing on his body, saying of his transformation, “Yeah, I definitely got bigger.” His offseason diet has included extra protein to support this weight gain, which he believes will enhance his performance on the field.

Harrison Jr. is working towards a concrete weight that he’s comfortable with, as he moves into training camp. For the first time, he’ll have ratchet set weigh-ins during camp, tethering another level of accountability to his prep. The aim isn’t just to make things heavier. As he passionately insisted in a recent interview, it’s about getting precise – not just in our planning efforts but in every aspect of the project delivery process.

Harrison Jr. finished his rookie season with an impressive stat line: 62 catches for 885 yards and eight touchdowns. His play is strikingly similar to that of his Hall of Fame father, Marvin Harrison Sr. During his debut season, Marvin Sr. caught 64 passes for 836 yards and eight scores. Harrison Jr. intends to eclipse his father’s already stellar second-year numbers. He’s gotta be aiming for more than 73 catches, 866 yards and six touchdowns right!

Beyond the physical aspect of building strength, Harrison Jr. has a clear desire to learn the intricate details of the game. For a third, he wants to study how defenses respond to him. He’s looking to find the optimal positioning for his routes and to know what role he plays in the overall development of plays. To this end, he has been collaborating with quarterback Kyler Murray outside of team facilities to improve their timing and precision.

“Go out there with our eyes closed and be able to complete 100% of our passes is the goal you want to be able to get to just from a timing on-air standpoint,” Harrison Jr. said, highlighting the importance of chemistry between him and Murray.

With the college football season rapidly approaching, Harrison Jr. is unequivocal about his goals. He thinks you have to make the playoffs at least once, adding on purposefully, “I think you got to make the playoffs.” His confidence in the team’s potential is evident as he remarked, “I think this is the year that I feel like we want to do what we need to do. We have all the pieces we need. We just got to go out there and execute at this point.”

Harrison Jr.’s determination to contribute significantly to the team’s success reflects a mindset focused on winning games. “That’s why they brought me here to help this team win games,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to being a key player for the Cardinals.
