Mark Alleyne Signs New Three-Year Deal to Lead Gloucestershire Cricket

Mark Alleyne, so successful as the head coach of Gloucestershire, has just signed a new three-year contract. He will be with the club until 2028! Here’s how the Gloucestershire cricket website introduced Alleyne’s pledge to the Robins. He is intent on keeping them up there as they ambitiously chase success in their domestic competitions.

The 57-year-old Alleyne has deep roots with Gloucestershire, as evidenced by nine major trophies won in his playing career. Captain for seven years he laid the foundations for the success of the club. His leadership directed them to their historic promotion to County Championship Division One. In 2024, Alleyne took the head coaching reins back from Whitaker. He captained the side to victory in the T20 Blast title later that same year.

As part of his new deal, Alleyne will be responsible for guiding the One-Day Cup team. Previously, he’d missed the tournament due to being contracted to Welsh Fire in The Hundred. Today, he’s fully prepared to guide the team in this crucial tournament.

David Graveney OBE, deputy chair of Gloucestershire County Council, shared his excitement at the news of Alleyne’s five-year extension. He stated that it is “fantastic news for both the club and our supporters that Mark will continue as head coach.” Graveney added that Alleyne’s choice to re-sign with the club for another season was a key moment. So many of the players had already opted-in themselves before us.

“Following several players choosing to extend their stay with Gloucestershire we are delighted that Mark has also decided to remain with a club where he has enjoyed great success both as a player and as a coach.” – David Graveney OBE

Speaking about his new deal on the club’s website, Alleyne was keen to reiterate his continued loyalty to Gloucestershire. He reiterated the need to double down on a commitment to provide strong performances in the third year and beyond.

“My commitment to the club has never been in doubt, and it’s great to get the contract over the line so we can focus on delivering high performances over the next three years,” – Mark Alleyne
