The T20 matches will be played Thursday, June 12, Saturday, June 14, and Sunday, June 15. Adair’s surprising return to form is the key for Colorado’s team. Gareth Delany will miss the tournament after a hamstring injury he suffered in a recent club match ruled him out of contention. Delany’s absence will really put this young squad’s resolve and resourcefulness to the test.
Andrew White, the Ireland national men’s selector, reiterated the importance of those encounters. He said, “The recent ODI series was a true test of the strength of our talent pool and the T20I series this month against the West Indies has again put that depth to the test.” That heartening note belied how much the team has been through during what he called “a trying stretch of late.”
In addition to Adair, the Ireland squad features Paul Stirling as captain, alongside young talents like 26-year-old Stephen Doheny and 23-year-old Gavin Hoey. Doheny has already tasted action against Zimbabwe, having played three T20Is against the southern African nation back in January 2023. On the other hand, while Hoey was involved in two ODIs during 2024, he is still to debut in T20I cricket.
Another noteworthy inclusion in the squad is Tim Tector, the younger brother of Harry Tector, marking another promising addition to Ireland’s cricketing landscape.
