The experienced pace bowler Marchant de Lange has extended his stay for one further year. With Gloucestershire, he will still be playing T20-only cricket in 2026. The deal allows him to direct exclusively in the short format. He is set to feature in multiple franchise tournaments as he links up with the county’s Vitality Blast outfit.
The 35-year-old De Lange moved from Somerset to Gloucestershire in 2022. He has produced a high degree of stability, consistency and quality among three seasons with the Eagle club. He has quickly established himself as a T20 force in his short time, having taken 21 wickets in only 16 matches. In 2024, he had an even better performance, taking 11 wickets. His explosive innings proved a key part in Gloucestershire’s remarkable run to secure the Blast title that summer.
For all his successes, de Lange faced some dark days last year. He was hampered by a slew of injuries that forced him to miss most of the season. Still, he is hopeful about his prospects moving forward with the organization.
